Book review of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets kept me glued to the pages with its interesting story line and its fast pace.

The theme, reliance on a community appears often throughout the book. I feel that J.K. Rowling is trying to send a very important message to her readers through this book and that message would be that as long as you have a couple real close friends you will have someone that has your back through thick and thin. To support this statement here are some examples from the book. Ron, Harry's best friend, is always there to help Harry if ever the need should arise no matter if it involves possibly getting expelled from Hogwarts, the school they attend. Hermione on the other hand is also there to help Harry but in a more conserved manner, because she is just getting to were she will break a few rules to help him but for the most part she is trying to keep him and Ron out of trouble.

J.K. Rowling's style of writing brings you into the story so deeply and keeps you there that it is hard to put the book down. I enjoy books with this kind of style because it makes it seem as though time has stopped to allow you to read. A hundred pages go by and it seems to only have been ten minutes but it has been twenty or thirty minutes. The tension in style of the book keeps the reader hanging on to every word of every page in the book.

The author does an amazing job of making Ron, Hermione, Harry, and all of the other characters seem as tho if you went to London you could very well bump into one of them, because she gives a lot of background knowledge to the reader on the main characters lives. I like the characters of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Harry, because he is picked on throughout the book but stands up for himself no matter what. Hermione seems to try to control the chaos which is her's, Harry's, and Ron's life at Hogwarts with as much trouble they get into. Ron has the tendency to blow up in people's face's if they make fun of him, Harry, or Hermione.

This would be a great read for anyone who enjoys suspenseful fiction books, but I feel that it is best to wait until your in junior high or you just might not understand this book.

CURRENT CONNECTIONS
ATTACK ON AMBASSADOR IN LIBYA

  • This article is trying to inform us that the attack on the Libyan Embassy was premeditated to coincide with the eleventh anniversary of 9/11. The Libyian president of the national congress stated on CBS's "Face the Nations" that the attack was timed to coincide with the attack on 9/11.

  • The extremist showed up with RPGs (Rocket Propelled Grenades).

  • I agree that this attack was probably premeditated.

THE NEW WORLD TRADE CENTER

The World Trade Center Four could be a symbol saying you can knock us down once but we will come back stronger and bigger than ever.

  • The new WTC is going to be the tallest building in America and the concrete used around the elevators, pipes, communication wires, and all the vital structures is three foot thick icrete.

  • This building is making a statement that terrorist can win one battle, destruction of the twin towers, but there's no way they could possibly win the war we're just to strong of a country.

Brandon's Reading Bucket List

This is the ten books that I want to read through out this school year.

  1. The Holy Bible. There are several reasons to why I want to read the bible from cover to cover. One is that I would like to be able to say that I did read the whole bible. Another would be so that I become a more understanding christian and a better christian. I hope to finish it by the end of this school year.
  2. The Harry Potter Series-by J.K. Rowling. I have tried to read this series in the past and I just couldn't get into them I don't know if they were to hard for me at that time or that I just wasn't into reading those sort of books at that time. I have now almost completed the first book and it is a good book and if the rest of the series is this good I should have no trouble staying interested.
  3. Holes-by Louis Sacher. I have seen a lot of people in the past reading this book and seeming to enjoy it. I have seen the movie and it was great so I guess the reason why I really want to read this book is to see whether the book or movie is better and if the book is it gonna be one of those hard to put down books.
  4. Maximum Ride Series-by James Paterson. I have read books by this author in the past and really enjoyed them I am currently reading one of his other series the Alix Rider series. It would have to be hands down one of my favorite series that I have ever read. Maybe I will finish both of them this year.
  5. Off To War- by Deborah Elis. I want to read this book because it sounds like it would be an interesting read. Also because it is about how war changes people from when they get deployed and to when they come back home to their families and it also talks about the effects it has on the children of the parent that goes off to war.
  6. I Am Number Four- by Pittacus Lore. One of the big reasons I want to read this book is because it is about aliens. In away it's kinda like the Hunger Games in a way that these nine kids are being hunted down and are always on the run and the Hunger Games by far the best trilogy I have ever read.
  7. The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy- by J.R.R. Tolkien. This book is set in like a mid evil time setting with lots of creepy monsters and other stuff that go boo in the night and make little kids check under their bed before they go to sleep. I really like the books with this kind of setting one of my favorite series is the eragon series.
  8. The Hobbit- by J.R.R. Tolkien. I want to read this book before I read the Lord Of The Rings because it is the prequel to that series. It is mostly about the hobbits fighting to gain back control of the lonely mountain and it's treasures.
  9. Lord Of The Flies- by William Goldman. I want to read this book because it is about a group of students getting stranded on a paradisical island during a nuclear war and they are cut off from modern civilization. So they regress into primitive living to suvive.
  10. Alex Rider Series- by James Patterson. I have read every book in  this series but two to three and I plan to finish this series soon. I enjoy the plot of the book which is about a young boy whose parents are killed in a shoot out, and he goes off to live with his caregiver. The twist is that his parents were spys so M16 who they where working for gets Alex to be a spy for them to.
